Managerial Consulting
CWC will improve your supervisors' effectiveness
in their job with time management, employee motivation skills, communication
with fellow colleagues and upper management, quality control, job descriptions
for staff and the art of delegating.
TRAINING
Pre Press Training
Common problems that we address in pre-press
are variations in four colour reproduction of half tones caused by
stripping and plate making methods, coloured monitors not being calibrated
properly, the translation between the image on the monitor versus
the reproduction capability of the press. Our staff will work hand
in hand to enhance the skill level of the Pre-press Staff and address
any mechanical deficiencies in this area.
Pressroom Training
Most pressroom operations do not have an effective
in-house training program. The knowledge of the staff is passed
from one pressman to another over generations. CWC has designed
and implemented in-house training programs in over 300 pressroom
operations during the pasts 18 years. We offer hands-on training
during production combined with classroom training to up-grade the
skill levels of the entire production staff. Our trainers are skilled
craftsmen and qualified journeymen with years of commercial and
newspaper experience. Our background as press operators allows us
to form a trusting teacher/student relationship with the staff.
Post Press Installation and Training
The post press area is an essential part of meeting
production deadlines. CWC can streamline this area to alleviate
traffic flow problems and reduce waste. We can install and service
any of your bindery or post press equipment and train your staff
in preventative maintenance, equipment operation and troubleshooting.

Seminars
Seminars are primarily devoted to newspaper groups
or chains. For example CWC performed a three-day (Quality in Our Pressrooms)
seminar for the Thompson Newspaper Chain at SkyDome Hotel in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada. Thirty-five newspapers sent Production Managers and
Pressroom Supervisors to this function.
The following subjects were covered:
Chemistry in the Pressroom, Prepress Relationship to Press, Blankets
and Packing, Make Ready Procedure, Roll Stand and Tension Controls,
Ink and Water Train Rollers, Folder, Start Up Procedure, Printing,
Press Registration, Quality Control, Preventative Maintenance, Role
of Pressroom Supervisor, Problems Solving Workshop.
This was viewed by Thompson as a very successful project
which enhance reproduction quality, reduced their waste and up graded
the skill level of their Production management staff.
CWC has performed these seminars internationally for
newspaper groups as well as independent newspapers that have collectively
put a seminar together to make it more affordable.
Plant Layout and Planning
Some of our clients require new facilities as their
business expands. It is essential to layout the production area for
traffic flow, storage and future expansion. Many times we install
new equipment or move the existing equipment into a new plant that
has not been designed to accommodate all of the above.
Being press people ourselves, our knowledge in regards
to locating utilities and other essentials is helpful to building
planners and architects. Changes needed after a building is complete
are costly.
Press Audits
CWC can perform a detailed mechanical audit of Press
lines and auxiliary components. We prepare a report that outlines
the condition of the equipment, the cost factor for recommended repairs
and present value of the equipment. An audit can be of one specific
piece of equipment or can encompass the entire production department
dependent upon the customers needs.
Press Installations and Moves
If you are contemplating moving your existing press
or post press equipment or acquiring new or used equipment, Canadian
Web Consultants would like the opportunity to quote. We have been
performing these services since 1984. Please review RESUME.
In addition to being millwrights, our installers are
also pressmen who have an in-depth knowledge of press operations and
utilize this knowledge to make sure the installation of the press
lines and all auxiliary components are completed to suit the requirements
of a pressmen.
Press Rebuild
Please have a look at the before and after pictures
of a Harris Press CWC rebuilt.
We specialize in on-site rebuilding allowing production
to continue uninterrupted as the repairs are carried out. This eliminates
shipping cost and downtime. Another cost saving for present and future
is realised when the customer provides mechanical staff for training
by CWC in the repairs and rebuilt thus enhancing their skill level
in order to perform in-house repairs and reduce future mechanical
maintenance costs.
Ink Line Design and Installation
CWC can layout a complete ink distribution system
inclusive of ink pump stations, main lines and manifolds with audio
and visual alarm systems for both re-circulating and dead end styles.
Equipment Upgrades
Due to increased colour demands and superior reproduction
quality, many printing companies are looking for ways to improve their
equipment's performance through the addition of auxiliary components.
This will assist them in meeting their clients' needs. CWC can identify
the appropriate components, which would upgrade your existing equipment
to a competitive level in the marketplace.
Maintenance Programs
The purchase of a printing press is a major capital
expenditure. Rapid deterioration of the equipment is primarily due
to inadequate maintenance. We can design a preventative maintenance
program for your equipment, which will entail daily, weekly, monthly
and yearly checklists. A proper preventative maintenance program will
lead to reduced downtime, increase productivity, superior reproduction
quality and ensure a higher resale value for your equipment.
